Cal is an awesome young lab mix that came into the shelter in October. Caliber has become a staff favorite in the shelter thanks to his fun-loving, ball chasing personality. He has tons of energy and is very eager to please people. He is willing to learn all sorts of new things (as long as you have a toy or treat to reward him with!) When you see Cal running through the play yard and jumping in the kiddy-pool, you would never know what a rough life he had previous to entering the shelter. Before he came to us, he hadn't been treated in the best way by his previous owners. Due to this, he was very fearful of strangers upon his arrival. It took staff members a couple weeks to show him that the world isn't so bad and actually can be a lot of fun! Now, his true colors shine through! Cal can still be a little bit wary of strangers and barks when he's kenneled, but once he's out of his kennel, he is friendly and walks quite well on leash! Cal needs an experienced adopter who is sensitive enough to understand his rough start to life, but be consistent in training and showing him what behaviors aren't acceptable (he's still a puppy at heart). Cal should probably not live with children under 12yrs old because he is still a bit jumpy when excited.
